About US
Founded in 2008 by Nancy Barry, a two-time Emerson College graduate with extensive experience in casting, directing, teaching, and performing, Interlakes Theatre was born from a simple but powerful dream: to create a theatre company that feels like home—a place where artists of all ages can learn, grow, create, and belong.
Since its founding, Interlakes Theatre has become one of the Lakes Region's most celebrated performing arts organizations, producing more than 100 professional musical theatre productions. For the past eight consecutive years, the company has been honored with the award for Best Live Theatre in the Lakes Region, a testament to its commitment to artistic excellence and community engagement.
At the heart of Interlakes Theatre is a vibrant, collaborative environment that brings together professional directors, designers, musicians, and performers from across the United States. The results have been extraordinary: in just 19 years, 101 Interlakes Theatre performers have gone on to sign Broadway contracts, launching successful careers on some of the nation's most prestigious stages.
Equally important is our commitment to the next generation of artists. Every summer, Interlakes Theatre welcomes 50–60 young performers into an intensive summer theatre program unlike any other. Working alongside theatre professionals, participants rehearse and perform three full-scale musical productions on a demanding 10-day summer stock schedule. Most importantly, this transformative experience has always been offered completely free of charge. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to discover their voice, build confidence, develop creativity, and experience the magic of live theatre—regardless of financial circumstances.
In 2025, Interlakes Theatre proudly became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, ensuring that its legacy of artistic excellence, education, and community service will continue for generations to come.
Today, our mission remains as strong as ever: to bring exceptional professional musical theatre to residents and visitors of the Lakes Region; to provide meaningful opportunities for theatre professionals and artists in training; and to create a safe, welcoming, and inspiring space where young people can explore their creativity, build lifelong skills, and develop a lasting appreciation for the arts.
At Interlakes Theatre, we don't just produce shows—we build community, inspire dreams, and create experiences that change lives.

Meet the Producing Director
Nancy Barry is a graduate of Emerson College where she received a BS in Speech Communication and an MA in Theatre Education/Directing. A member of Actor’s Equity Association and the Screen Actors Guild, Ms. Barry has worn many hats – producer, director, actor, singer, casting director, teacher. In addition to her many stage roles, she has appeared in film, voiceovers, commercials, print ads and was frequently seen on the NY cabaret circuit. Ms. Barry has also appeared in numerous night club venues in NYC in her one woman act. While in NY, Ms. Barry also started directing and opened Music Theatre Artists, a theatre training program in NYC and Long Island. One special summer was spent at the New London Barn Playhouse in 1983 with Owner/Producer Norman Leger. After her summer as an intern, Ms Barry served as Casting Director at the Barn since 1985 and three years ago came to New Hampshire at the request of Mr. Leger to take care of the Barn as Artistic Managing Director at the time of his retirement until his recent passing. Coincidentally, Nancy Barry directed the first musical at the Lakes Region Summer Theatre in 1992, as Mr. Leger was paramount in launching the endeavor with partners David and Peter Ramsey, sons of his good friend, Peg Chatalier.
